Pros

I'd say the prestige, level of respect in the industry and within the company is awesome, they also really spend alot of money on marketing internally and recreational activities

Cons

Vastly underpaid. Quick to criticize slow to praise. No loyalty to employees. Regardless of time spent or how much you've contributed to the company they don't care nor take that into consideration when deciding your employment

Pros

I wasn't here long enough to really find out.

Cons

Suddenly fired without warning or reason only a few days into the job. Technically I worked with HP through another company as a contractor for one of their many specialized IT departments. On the last day of my training, I spent the day getting my computer set up, waiting on permission to use it, and tearing apart machines to learn how to repair them. At the end of the day I get an urgent call from my recruiter saying 4 people called her saying I needed to go. No one from HP ever talked to me in person about it. No warning, no escort from the company, no attempt to correct any problem. Reasons given they found my personality disruptive and felt I couldn't do the work because of my bad back. I have always taken responsibility for my own actions and I am first to say that I have a loud boisterous personality. But I do not make raunchy jokes, I go out of my way to be friendly, I do not insult people's age, religion culture or etc. Anything I did or did not do could have been solved by a quick ten-minute conversation. And yes, I have a bad back. I cannot walk more than 20 minutes before I feel like screaming in pain. After a week of walking around the building site, I finally broke down and took some pain medication and admit it knocked me out a little but I was still able to function. Here is the funny part: This job is 100% in front of a computer. There is no physical activity involved. Once more both my trainers had their own health issues and no one questioned if they could do the job. So now I am on shaky ground with the firm I contract through, I have taken a blow to my self-worth and confidence, and once more find myself without a job and I am made to feel like this is somehow only my fault. So... yeah, I guess HP is a great place to work for... unless someone decides on a whim that you can't work there and gives you no chance to defend yourself. TDLR: HP treats its employees like their computers. Disposable.

Pros

My highlights -- had the opportunity to take various classes, travel, be a part of several ERGs, and work with some highly intelligent women globally.

Cons

Plan to work 60+ hours a week. Start at 6 am with India and into the night with APJ. HP talks a lot about work life balance but that is very difficult when you have an unattainable amount of projects on your plate to complete. HP also talks a lot about having "the most diverse board" in the tech industry. It's a big front. There are Very Few women in upper management but plenty of good ol' boy mentality and management. None of this is sour grapes, more of just the reality working at HP.
