Pros

Expense accounts are nice because you can wine and dine your way into accounts.

Cons

Everything else, no culture, training is conducted by folks who have never sold insurance in their lives. Reputation in the market is not very good. Very easy for brokers in the same realm to destroy us because of our reputation. The guys who cannot grow organically so they decide to be exit strategies for old insurance agency principals who have no desire to bring in new business once they sell. it is going to be interesting to see how HUB supports in organic growth when all of the agency principals they buy decide to exit the business. My belief is that they are going to have to sell to a larger shop like Marsh or Gallagher.

Had High Hopes

Pros

Nice people, nice management, accomplishment recognition

Cons

I had such high hopes at this company; when I first started I had very little training, but was able to improvise and get past it (not everyone can do this and needs sufficient training). Everything seemed great at first, lots of verbal recognition for hard work and management seemingly cared about employees. If you're a hard worker, your workload will continue to be piled on. Lot's of weak employees that didn't know how to do their job or flew under the radar was not addressed, and the workload fell onto the backs of hard workers. Advised management for years with the inability to effectively do the job with the seemingly never ending workload increase, even provided solutions just to be flat-out ignored. Was working nights and weekend just to catch up. Nobody seemed to care how mentally drained the high performing employees were, no matter how much it was mentioned. "Thank you for bringing this to our attention, change is on the horizon" can only be said so many times. Pay raises were a joke, high turnover with lacking replacement, toxic employees were not reprimanded. Took a huge toll on mental health, which spills into personal life.

Pros

Decent benefits, good people, not micro-managed. Birthday celebrations, quarterly financial meetings, kitchen full of free snacks and drink. Yearly employee's day where the office gets together for some fun.

Cons

I handled the work of 3 desks when the company refused to hire replacements to the agents who quit because of the unrealistic workload, low pay and pressure to not overlook anything or make errors that are inevitable in these conditions. After tirelessly and thanklessly working these 3 desks, they decided they no longer needed my position and let me go. Some employees hold favor with management and do not get their work done, show up late, take excessive breaks and use cursing language in common areas around phones. Complaints fall on deaf ears while management makes excuses for them and expect you to pick up their slack.
