Pros

The resource nurses at this hospital are straight OGs. If I ended up in this ER they are the first person I would want to see.

Cons

Unsafe staffing ratios. 1:6 and 1:7 on a busy neuro/stroke/tele unit, culture of nurses having to put in doctor's orders (very unsafe). It s just expected. Supplies are monitored and certain ones are kept by management to save on budgeting but it makes your job harder to use other supplies that are just simply not convenient. Some doctors don't come around until 5-6 PM to see their patient and many of them do not cross their t's or dot their i's. It's so disheartening to see a sepsis patient with their abx that has fallen off?! And this is just one example, literally there are so many things that you just could not trust that the doctor was paying attention to because they just straight up do not- (worsening labs, worsening chest xrays, critical status progressing to worse with no interventions that just aren't being addressed). Don't even get me started on the nurses then needing to be the social worker too- literally need to round for 20 mins just to inform management when this patient can leave when the reality is I don't have time for that bc I have patients that are extremely critical in the background. No help from management and quite honestly every other nurse is so busy you are on your own. I can count on two hands the actual breaks I have taken here after over a year working here. And you don't get paid for not taking your break, they automatically take it out. I would never advise a family member to come to this hospital and I don't think I could get paid enough to work here ever again.
