Pros

+ Attractive bonus and compensation potential + Staff is smart, energetic, and hard-working + Fast growth of the firm consistently produces new opportunities and a dynamic atmosphere + 401(k) with 2% employer match + Great health benefits + Perks such as the occasional catered breakfast/lunch, and comped dinners after 7 pm + High level of staff involvement for community service events and happy hours/fundraisers

Cons

As Hanover has grown quite quickly in the past few years a need for professional development for mid-upper level management has evolved which to date has not been met

Pros

Good training opportunities, particularly for those new to market research. High turnover means there are many opportunities to advance up the ladder. Decent health insurance. Opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. Collegial work environment. Fair work-life balance for non-management employees. Free snacks.

Cons

Pay is below average for the industry/area. 401(k) benefits are not competitive. Unrealistically short project deadlines make it difficult to deliver a quality product or delve deeply into any particular topic. The company's business model prioritizes quantity over quality (e.g., I personally managed about 200 research projects a year). When I worked there, timelines had been streamlined in a way that made shorter project schedules feasible for researchers, but effectively increased workload on directors. It was also near-impossible for directors to schedule leave (expected to deliver projects when on leave). Senior managers pressured me to adjust performance reviews to benefit favored candidates. Would not recommend a supervisory position (Content Director or above) at this company unless it is your first short at management, in which case, consider having an exit plan after a year or two. I hope things have improved since I left the company.

Pros

On boarding experience was great. Staff put forth a lot of effort to help people succeed.

Cons

They let go a tremendous amount of good people when the pandemic hit. They had a mediocre severance package to ease the pain of cutting 10% of their staff. They seemed to burn people out and then let them go.
