Pros

Sometimes cool products and the ability to ride company owned vehicles. To be honest, that is about it. There used to be a good amount of benefits to working at HD and cool "perks", but those have all be stripped away by leadership.

Cons

Management and leadership is horrible. Horrible and cut-throat work culture where employees are expected to work 50+ hours a week a BELOW industry average compensation values. Don't expect much, if any, opportunity for promotion or growth. The best way to get a promotion or recognition, is to leave the company for employment elsewhere. Unless you are a manager or executive, you have very little design input and ability to make decisions. You aren't funded at all in any endeavors you pursue there usually and spending any money, requires multiple levels of approvals. The company is overwhelmed by "processes" that hinder progress but offer little to no training for Onboarding of new hires to get up to speed. You are very much "thrown to the wolves" when you start and expected to perform to the highest levels and NEVER fail. Company is rife with Cancel Culture and very much struggles with morale across the company. This likely is attributed to the compensation for employees doesn't align with the massive workloads per person. Company no longer does "across the board" raises and 90% of engineers haven't gotten a raise since 2018 and company leadership told employees back in March 2021 that there will not be pay raises in the future either (2021+). Meanwhile, the executive managers and leadership continue to receive large stock option payouts while the people who do the work struggle. Company is losing so many people across the board, that the remaining people are required to pick up the slack which adds to their workload, for the same amount of compensation. Be prepared to manage more than just the workload laid out in the Job Description that you apply for. You can work on a vehicle or design for years and never be allowed the opportunity to test and evaluate your components because ONLY LEADERSHIP is allowed to ride and test the new product. If you aren't leadership, you only get to ride the new product at demo events after it is launched. VERY MUCH A 2 TIER culture of "Those in Charge" vs. "Everyone Else" Lastly, Human Resources is HIGHLY CORRUPT at this organization. Harassment claims against any manager/leader do not get addressed, in fact, they are "buried" as if they don't exist. HR is very retaliatory as well but good luck holding them accountable.
