Pros

Harley-Davidson is an amazing brand with a global community of people who love you just because of who you work for. Our brand position and products are exceptional. You aren't just working for a company, you are working for a cause. You can always be proud of saying "I work for Harley-Davidson" even if you aren't proud of the way you feel about working for Harley-Davidson. That is a backhanded compliment, but there is a sense of pride in working for an American Icon that means so much to people all over the world. You'll be surrounded by people who care about the brand and what it means to deliver an exceptional product and experience to customers who are committed to the brand. Insert note, it's more about the brand than the company.

Cons

What people think about Harley-Davidson rarely matches how I feel about Harley-Davidson. There are some amazing people who work here. People who care deeply about the brand and our customers but it just doesn't translate to the experience of working for the company. Since a company doesn't really exist without people, it's really a disconnect between managers/leaders and the workforce. Pay is fair, though HR and hiring managers lean on the strength of the brand to compensate for pay and benefits that will hit the low end of the spectrum. While we talk about being a flexible workplace it rarely translates. It is a 110 year old company rooted in 110 year old management practices. Decisions are often slow, painfully slow, and generally based more on relationships than what is best. Career opportunities are thin and very dependent on

Pros

Cool product, customers are still unbelievably loyal, great co-workers

Cons

Senior Leadership is the worst and Harley has become one of the most political places I've ever seen. CEO came from the auto world making batteries and is known for breaking people down and outsourcing the world for a buck. President really only knows purchasing. Head of engineering also is a purchasing person. CIO came from purchasing. Head of HR is a lawyer. See the pattern? The prior leadership team understood motorcycling, the brand and were reachable with integrity. This team will bury you and in a second. The culture here changed to the worst almost overnight when new leadership took over. Almost all innovation in product development is gone...basically we are just making the same stuff with different colors and accessories.

Pros

You can't beat the excitement and enthusiasm of their customer base. Exciting products to work on.

Cons

The work life balance is horrible. Management's expectations for workload, development process and quality is out of line for what they are willing to staff or compensate for. Salary is not keeping up with industry and good luck advancing your career down the technical path. Also, disturbing trend to slowly reduce employee benefits and perks
