Pros

Benefits are good, salaries competitive

Cons

HCHD is rife with petty politics, especially in IT. It is a cliquish, good old boy network. You are not judged by your job, you are only judged by how much you kiss up to management. There is no comprehensive process for challenging a bad performance review. No career development or career management whatsoever.

Pros

I work at Ben Taub. Pay is $16.75/hr, $26.75/hr for high-need shifts.

Cons

Role is supplemental, no benefits, no tuition reimbursement, etc. When people see those burgundy scrubs walking through, they look at you like a turd is floating down the hallway. RNs, staff act as if you're not a human being. Sitting in a cramped room for 12 hours with a patient who is aggressive, has altered mental status, etc. is no fun. I avoided COVID for 3.5y but one month after working at Ben Taub caught it, even though I always wear a mask. What can you do if you're sitting for 12h with a pt who is not wearing a mask?

Pros

Great people, mission and vision. Breeding ground for patient care opportunities and research. New CEO, Dr Porsa and newly recruited leaders are great, passionate and equipped to bring about the change necessary to pivot the stagnant mindset and change the poor work culture they've inherited. LBJ Hospital Leadership are top notch

Cons

Poor HR leadership and management team. Wastes time and money with incompetent HR personnel leading leadership training and coaching of more experienced leaders. Corporate Compliance needs to refocus its attention to its core competence and let departments thrive in their area of expertise and provide support when needed. Zero chains of command and Leaders are not equipped or supported to lead, hence poor culture and psychologically unsafe place to work and thrive.
