Pros
Good benefits compared to other nearby hospitals, diverse pt population, interesting cases, good educator in the OR.
Cons
They say people leave managers not the job and in this case it is true. Management in the OR at Ben Taub were some of the worst I have ever worked with. They were constantly trying to find things wrong with staff and write people up. Examples include- jackets were not provided and staff were written up for using alternatives. Communication about doing education modules or anything mandatory was spotty and there were mass write ups for non completion. They would not help when you were busy but would complain about tape on the walls then go sit on their computers. The managers could be very passive aggressive and played favorites. There has been a mass exodus recently unsurprisingly and the OR is not able to run at full capacity because of it.
