Pros

Awesome product that is really helping folks. Great culture with folks really committed to spreading meditation. Perks and people are the best.

Cons

Management is truly incompetent and tone-deaf on a lot of issues. The CEO has zero tech experience and it is painfully apparent to anyone that anyone that watches him operate. He makes decisions at the last minute that send everyone scrambling and he has little to no focus. Much of the time at the company(including time spent by other execs) is spent managing up because of that. Moreover, very few of the senior management have start-up backgrounds and that really impedes the work. Management also does a terrible job communicating information around layoffs/firings and then pats itself on the back for handling them well (in their mind). Although it's a company that prides itself on its culture, the frequent and unannounced firings give Headspace a chaotic Hunger Games type feeling.

Pros

- Typical startup perks like free lunch, unlimited vacation, snacks - Rich and Andy, but they need to loose their C-Level advisers - The mission - The brand history, but not the brand direction

Cons

- Too much turnover at EVERY level and no plan to replace those leaving or fix the reasons why people are leaving means more work is left for those left behind which means more people quit. Which leads to more people quitting. VPs are quitting or getting fired, Managers, ICs, everyone. - Poor hiring has cost Headspace the majority of it's good workers. Those left behind aren’t the best or most productive or passionate ones. - The office is empty. People are out sick or working from home. Its clear they are really interviewing. Which is bad for morale for those that want to stay. - Growth has stopped and Headspace is no longer the market leader. There isn't a plan to address this. - No trust in the leadership or direction. People are fired and no reasons are given. This is not a secure place to work and this is driving some people to look for other jobs. - The mission is grand and worthy but Headspace isn’t the right company achieve it right now. The leadership can’t even keep their own team happy. - Constant reshuffle of teams, seating, priorities is a distraction from the rudderlessness of this ship

Pros

Catered lunch, paid gym membership + full benefits

Cons

The company has come a long way from their humble beginnings, they took a workplace that functioned on transparency and kindness to basically cloak and dagger in a matter of months. The mission is honorable, and for some time keeps you holding on hoping that things will turn around and upper management will start listening to what actually needs to be worked on. But instead its just more of the same, if you are not 100% happy with the conditions and issues going on and try to voice your opinion be ready to have a target painted on the back of your head. Also good luck trying to move up from within, they would rather hire some shiny talent and poach it from another company, and then just let them go months later.
