Pros

HealthPartners has a great culture because they truly care about the health and happiness of their employees, members and patients. The CEO, Mary Brainerd, is present at the corporate headquarters and genuinely appreciates all that her employees do to support the company mission, vision and values. It's easy to get out of bed in the morning to go to work for a place that makes you feel good.

Cons

On the other hand... How many cooks do you like in your kitchen? If you answered "a lot" then HealthPartners is definitely for you. Everyone wants to be involved to have a say, to review, to edit, etc. The culture at HealthPartners is great, like I said, but one part of it is awful and that's the number of meetings that are scheduled. This is a high meeting company. We're talking four to six (sometimes more) hours of your day will be spent in meetings.

Pros

Not super intense work environments depending on department, nearly impossible to be fired, can learn a lot, really great work life balance and understanding on personal issues when they arise.

Cons

Very poor yearly raises, somewhat average or below market pay for positions, there's a culture of having meetings to talk about how there's not enough time to get things done, but it's due to having too many meetings. The most recent detrimental trend is the championing of consultants. A lot of management think consultants who come in seem to know more than the employees who have been there for years. It's insulting to the employee and gives a false ego to the consultant. It's partially why I'm looking for a job.
