Pros

Dietary is divided into two departments: Operations (Kitchen/Food Service). & Clinical (Registered Dietitians). Dietitians responsible for meeting charting expectations, and monthly Sanitation Reports) Self-motivated is a requirement, Hard worker expected.

Cons

Struggle with employee retention, salary offered does not match the work load in the end. Operations team does a horrible job with training Dietary Managers. Dietitian end up providing on-spot training in Meal Tracker, CDM documentation in Rt charts, when and how to complete MDS- K section. etc... Account Managers need to developer Training Competency Curriculum.

Pros

This company is great to work for. The company believes in it's employees and wants to see them succeed. They promote from within and the promotions are based on performance, NOT seniority. Everyone has a fair shot at moving up. They strongly believe in team work and offer support from all over the country. You are expected to stay within budget BUT if something happens and more supplies are needed, they find a way to get you what you need. Like any company, they hold employees accountable but are more than fair. HCSG truly cares about their clients and at the end of the day, the is goal to make sure the residents/ patients/ family members are comfortable and happy.

Cons

Of course there are always cons, but with this company, the pros out weigh the cons.

Pros

There are a few good people left in my old area but the new regional is firing anyone who makes over 50k.

Cons

This is a Housekeeping company pretending to be a Dietary company too. All the upper management is from Housekeeping. All the VPs are from Housekeeping. There is no test kitchen. Our recipes literally were googled and chosen by someone who has never in his life worked in any food service industry. The food has to be the worst in the industry. The only hope for the Dietary division is to be split off and taken over by someone, anyone with at least some culinary sense. There are no benefits. The facilities are dangerously understaffed and the hourly employees are poorly trained, underpaid and generally disgruntled. Management is promised raises and incentives that never materialize. There really is no future in this company for up and coming professionals. The top spots are all taken by former Housekeeping managers who after 35 years eventually have entrenched themselves as VPs where they make mind boggling decisions about dietary operations. There is absolutely no information flowing from the facility level up. All decisions are made at corporate level and instituted with no concern over the real life ramifications. I encourage you to think twice before joining this group of clowns.
