Pros

Worked with competent and friendly people at the facility - those not employed by HCSG, managed a few hard working employees

Cons

Started at a salary of $26,000 and was promised a raise after 30 and 90 days. Needless to say neither of those happened. Health benefits are terrible and you pay a lot for them. There is no matching 401k. Vacation is 1 week after a year of employment, but good luck actually being able to use it. You are expected to work well over 40 hours a week and be on call 24/7. I wouldnt recommend this job to my worst enemy.

Pros

meet many kind residents in the facility.

Cons

the pay promised never happens. the starting pay is around 22,000 for women and 25,000 for men. There is no real training program to speak of or any real managenet support i worked for a facility in wilmington for 1 year before i resigned and moved away . started at 25000 should have been at 34,000 by that time as promised when hired but did not happen. promotion form within is not great. most pass up promotion and they just go down a list untill someone takes the job. not much chance for growth ,

Pros

The best reason to work for Healthcare Services is that you get to help make residents of nursing homes happy in their last days. You get to care for and meet some great people. The residents are the major reason that I stay with the company for three years. At every district meeting, the district manager would ask every account manager what they liked most about their job and out of a dozen answers, it was care of the residents at less ten out 12 times. The job allows you to meet new people daily and to help residents and families cope with a stressfull time in their live.

Cons

The downsides are long hours, running a 365 day a year business with little or no support from the company and little or no pay increases without major increases in your workload. The work hours average 50 to 70 hours a week and you are a salaried employee. You start out as a manager trainee and are trained until they need you, so your training period maybe as short as two weeks or as long as 6 months. A account manager runs a building with only a district manager as support, if you need to take time off then the building employees are left to themselfs until you return and the account manager has to work double time to get the building running right again. I have worked with managers that have been with the company 10 years and they were only making two to four thousand a year more then starting managers. Starting manager salaries range from 22000 to 30000, depending on the area.
