Be prepared to be paid lower than your market value and to often work more than 40 hours per week without any overtime potential. You will be taken for granted in a thankless job and be set up to inevitably fail. Considering how small the business is, the copious communication breakdowns are baffling. Management is seldom on the same page as employees creating surprises and fires which end up being the employees’ faults every time apparently. Priorities are nonsensical since everything is a high priority. For example, I had an 18-hour day to get a project out on time. Upon its completion, the management recipient told me “I’ll look at it next week”. If that’s so, why was my extension request denied? Why wasn’t even a simple “thank you” given? The next week I worked 39 hours and got an informal warning for not working 40 hours without taking PTO without any regard given I worked 50+ hours the week prior. Office politics are rampant, but it seems most people are pussyfooting around it. Rockstars have been let go for mysterious reasons while underperformers have stuck around for quite some time. Hiring friends and family might have made sense when it was a startup trying to survive early on, but now it has created a culture of insiders and outsiders. Life is great if you’re on the inside as you have total job security regardless of performance. Having family members give performance evaluations to each other is a pretty clear conflict of interest that's swept under the rug.

The compensation is low in comparison to other companies and the workload can be enormous at times. A minimum of 45 hours per week is expected and 50+ hours weekly isn’t uncommon.
