Pros

-Amazing mission, values, and goals that will impact a lot of people immediately and hopefully everyone in the not too distant future -Really smart, knowledgable co-workers with good connection between SD and SF offices. I have not seen this before in other work places I've been at with multiple offices -CEO, Founders, VP's, etc are very visible and willing to talk to employees about all aspects of the company. No info seems "hidden" from lower employees -Start Up company but has the feel of a well-established company that has been around for years. Policies are in place or implemented quickly if asked for, 401K match, great benefits and employee support -Lots of offering to take any needed classes, courses, etc if needed to improve on job

Cons

-Moving fast so if you are looking to come into a job and ease into it slowly this is not for you -People work hard and sometimes late or on weekends, hopefully increased hiring will help out

Thanks for providing your candid feedback! After spending a few days in the San Diego office this week I can confidently say that you're doing an amazing job hiring. We're glad to hear that you're enjoying working at Helix and feel that we're living up to our values! Building a new company in a new industry can be a lot of work. We definitely appreciate the sacrifices that everyone is making at the company and understand the toll that it can have on other aspects of your life. I'd recommend to everyone to take advantage of our generous vacation package when needed so you can recharge and spend time with the people that you love. Thanks for your advice on improving our onboarding process. We've had others make similar comments and now have Robin, James, or Justin participating in the first segment of our onboarding process. Should you have any other suggestions, feel free to message me on Slack anytime. Derek Talent Team

Sinking ship... :(

Pros

Amazing work culture, supportive coworkers/teammates, group outings, benefits, and innovative science. Learned and gained alot of experience during Helix's prime.

Cons

Helix tried to capture a market already dominated by 23andMe and Ancestry.com and simply failed. Not too sure what to make of the new leadership change. Hard to read if he's here to save face for our investors or actually try to turn the company around.

You’re right, the consumer genomics market place has been challenging to break into, and has largely been a genealogy market to date. Having tested a consumer strategy, we have recently pivoted to focus on population health, which plays much better to Helix’s strengths and is a market in which we have already had some notable success. Personally I joined Helix as CEO because I believe in our mission to empower every person to improve their life through DNA. I also believe in our new strategic focus, and in our team, having worked with Helix closely for the last 4 years as a Board member. I agree with you, we do have an amazing culture and team of incredibly passionate people that are driving innovation. I welcome the opportunity to chat anytime to hear more of your feedback and to share with you my motivations and perspectives on our strong position to succeed. -- Marc

Cons

Unexpected Layoffs happened the end of January 2024 without a heads up. Very untrustworthy and shows that there is a lack of vision on how to attain goals and mis management.
