Pros

50+ years of industry experience. Expanding line of new innovative product. Growing company with great senior leadership. Huge opportunity to move up within organization.

Cons

Growing pains of a newly publicly traded company as we continue to separate from Hertz but well on our way to provide a superior brand and offering along with exceptional customer service

Pros

Company truck. M-F. Good vacation/sick/personal time allowances. Work with diverse range of industries. Gain lots of diverse experience due to lack of support. Besides management, fellow employees were hard working and honest people. Experience looks good on a resume. Entrusted with lots of responsibilities. Wear many caps.

Cons

Experiences can vary greatly based on region and branch manager. Company is as corporate as corporate can get. Old school philosophy based on pushing sales and metrics rather than focusing on customer service and gaining a competitive advantage. Sales reps have little freedom to make own deals/pricing and the internal support is pathetic. Manager was completely inept. Very cut throat with management constantly being axed for seemingly no reason. High turnover and very little invested in employees. In the midwest market Herc is hardly a player except in large population hubs where a select few sales reps have lucrative territories. Fall far behind regional companies such as Cat. High stress with lots of pressure and very little work/life balance. Expect to work 10 hour days at minimum. Always on call.

Pros

Commission paid based on previous month's sales revenue, and not what invoices customers paid.

Cons

Company seems to put on a strong front as they went independent this year, however I think it was only a facade. They are a distant third to sunbelt and united, and will always be the little brother. Also, in local markets herc branches seem to fall behind companies like a CAT dealer if they are present. Company depends heavily on the sales reps, yet provide little support in the way of competent branch manager, and the ability to negotiate their own deals. They don't provide much incentives to sales reps, except the few reps in each district who have really lucrative territories (large populations). If you're interested in this industry, skip herc and go with sunbelt or united. Commission scales really were a slap in the face in 2016. They use an "Optimus" system that's embarrassing...

Pros

There are none. You're filled with false hope and empty promises. You're lied to from the first day of employment.

Cons

Everything about the company. You're hired for minimal pay for the amount of work you do. Don't count on the branch manager giving you a hand when you're busy. You're only a number here, you're not valued for your skill or drive. You will be lied to from day one about getting promoted or anything about growing with the company. I've never seen a company that the employees fight so much upon one another. There's nothing good about this company. Run far from it. Hr is an incredible joke. I think their department was hired straight from the homeless shelter.
