Pros

Due the amount of work and the fast pace, the team members bond and look out for one another.

Cons

Leadership team for Production Support and Quality Assurance is clueless and/or they just don't care. How these people keep there jobs and get prompted is beyond me. The only reason things get done is because of the dedication and work ethic of lower level managers and their teams. Unfortunately, these lower level mgrs and teams are overworked and under appreciated.

Pros

They have a very solid and professional initial sales training. Somewhat flexible hours. Strong compensation plan for new business revenue. Surprisingly very talented and diverse sales backgrounds throughout the office.

Cons

It has become the stereotypical "meat-grinder" of a job. Yellowbook has been a fantastic place to work over the years, with the emphasis on "has been". The lack of foresight in realizing how quickly the market was changing from a print-internet emphasis was stunning, especially in a major media market like metro Washington DC. The substandard training for internet advertising combined with the lack of requisite tools (ie, laptops) has greatly contributed to the demise of morale.

Pros

You can make a ton of money if you are willing to work for in it. You have a variety of products to sell (search engine marketing, yellowbook.com and phone book). Senior management has a great vision toward the future and what opportunities are ahead for the company and employees. Contests and rewards are given for top performers regularly. There is a great deal of flexibility for working parents when you are performing well. The advancement opportunities exist both on the management side as well as in sales--and you can go back to sales if you decide management is not for you.

Cons

The expectations seem unrealistic many times. In this market you are required to sell into 8 different directories throughout the year plus sell search engine marketing and yellowbook.com. Local management seems to be out of touch with the daily requirements of their sales team. Local management seems to lack the enthusiasm and support that is needed to run a successful sales environment. Communication at the local level is very poor. Our management team cannot even tell us what our local objectives are so that I know whether or not I am successful. The office environment is extremely negative with managers blaming reps most of the time.
