Pros

$9 as cashier .........and thats abou it!

Cons

the communication is TERRIBLE! Managers could care less about employees. The cash register is a NIGHTMARE! Every number must be punched in manually and the receipts are incredibly general making refunds hellish for cashiers! Rules and policies constantly change by the day and you are EXPECTED to know this even though no one has notified you about them. The people are TERRIBLE to work with both employees and customers. Not recommended for college students or anyone under the age of 30! Most employees are elder, grumpier women who instigate and gossip between each other. The head departments get spoiled at times. there are never enough hours to go around unless it is during christmas. Christmas is terrible, sometimes we didn't even get out until 1:30am (and some of us had to be at work at 9am the next day!). the Managers are always trying to find things wrong with everything and always trying to correct things that are JUST FINE THE WAY THEY ARE!! there is absolutly no room for advancement ESPECIALLY if you are a college student! as a matter of fact you cannot move up at all for this reason! people who had came around during the pay raises and only had 2weeks there, got a raise with people who had been working there for 2years! Managers try to get free labor from part-timers. Sometimes they have you ordering for a department head, or helping them do markdowns but NEVER give you a raise.Nobody was happy with job where i worked!

Pros

Hobby Lobby has great hours and benefits for the employees. Being always closed on Sundays and not being open late meant I always had time with my family. I was able to move into a specialized full time position within a couple months of starting. The management and benefit structure were very supportive of a full time career with the company.

Cons

The only problems I ever encountered were standard retail fare: there were some grouchy customers and my schedule was rarely the same week to week.

Pros

The pay is good but I work my butt off for it so we are even Hobby Lobby.

Cons

unreasonable job expectations, no job satisfaction, unreliable co-workers, I am pretty much disatisfied with Hobby Lobby. I started working for HL 1 year ago. I tried to apply for a lower position after 6 months because I do not like my current job and they said that I have not worked there long enough. I am stuck where I am at doing all the undesirable & grunt work. I have saved the company thousands of dollars by changing some simple offices proceduces and they reap the benefits. I did all the leg work to get the change made and when raises came around I did not see a significant raise or a bonus. They hire 1 person to do a 3 person job.
