Pros

Off Sunday. Have developed a few good friends with employees.Only work every other Saturday. Vacation pay. Cannot give any other reasons.

Cons

Hobby Lobby does not value its long term employees at all. You would think a raise sounds like a good thing... but it is not. NEW full-time hires have all been given $1.00 raises for the last three years in a row while emplyees who have been with HL for years are only getting minimum raises 25 to 50 cents. NEW employees are now within 25 cents of people who have been with HL for ten to fifteen years. New full timers make $13.00 per hour and long term emplyees are at $13.25 per hour and some of them are night managers who lock up the store every night and have great responsibilities. I am given what are called "personal days" every year to be used for personal days that I may need off with pay. I cannot get paid for what I consider to be an emergency. The MANAGER of your store makes the decision if you can use your day as a personal day off and get paid. Nobody else. If your manager is a hearltess/uncaring perosn like ours is... you will not be paid. HL considers itself to be a Christian company and many people there are good people. Ido not think the ownr (Mr Green) knows the amount of anger building up in his stores as he is sheltered from employees. He would not be happy...

Pros

- Very nice and patient customers. - A few nice co-workers - Employee discount That's pretty much it.

Cons

- Passive aggressive behavior from customer service manager (eg. taking over the register intermittently, sarcastic remarks to questions, not speaking up when replying to a question even when asked multiple times, being extremely slow to assist with change & refunds, favoritism to certain cashiers etc.) - Two faced, hypocritical, impatient managers. - Most other cashiers have a bad attitude towards certain co-workers. - Training DVD's skip and jump past important things. - Dirty break room. Fridge is full of old food and bags. Barely anywhere to put your lunch. - Dirty bathrooms. No idea if anyone even cleaned them regularly. - Other cashiers do not stay long enough for a code 15 (opening another register for a long line of customers). They disappear alot when you need them. - No pre-opening procedure whatsoever. Unless you constantly hit the door for 5 minutes with a hard object that makes a loud sound, nobody will come let you in before 9:00. - Sudden change to no food or drink at the register for any reason without notification. - Slow or sometimes no manager response to pages. - Confusing and unclear price check procedures. - Poor team morale. - Overall just a miserable and degrading place to work.

Pros

The people are friendly all-around, the discount is great, and they have great hours (close at 8pm, closed Sundays).

Cons

No scanners, so everything must have a price (if not you must go find it's price) and you have to type everything in. You also must remember all the sales, if you forget and find something is on sale at the end of the sale, you must start over.
