Pros

The management staff communicates well. They work hard with employees and are clear and direct in expectations. Management remains positive with employee strengths and weakness.

Cons

There is no downside for a retail job. Hobby Lobby has a fair request for employees. You will definitely have to like retail to remain.

Pros

Our manager was young and on the rise so he was always open to suggestions and liked to work hard. Being a family man, he understood the need for schedule adjustments and was always willing to covernfor anyone when needed. I don't know about other Hobby Lobby managers but I really enjoyed working for this one. The customers were great because they were always working on some creative project or another so their minds were focused on exactly what they wanted. I was always excited when they brought pictures of their finished projects for me to see.

Cons

Hard work, long hours. Don't apply here if you're afraid to work.

Pros

--Managers and employees don't take themselves so seriously they can't at least enjoy MOST of the job. --The head manager, while quite firm and disciplinary toward employees who don't "hold up their end of the bargain", is very fair and respectful. And co-managers are far more "take-charge" at this store than my last one. --Employees, for the most part, work together and don't give each other problems. --I am finally getting ACTUAL COMPLIMENTS for my hard work!! Feels GREAT and a great incentive to keep working there!! --Much more laid back environment. The head manager is not calling me into the office and interrogating me for sending customers to refunds/exchanges every once in a while. She has told me a couple of times I needed to do a little better in some respects (which HAS helped me to do much better and I thank her for that) but has never reprimanded me repeatedly for insignificant slip-ups. And as long as a project is finished by the end of the work day an employee can take as much time as he or she needs to finish it! --I wasn't looked over like a two-headed monster when I transferred from my last store to this one; I was definitely welcomed and treated like a friend. --Checks are given very promptly. --Suggestions and "nudges" from managers are suggestions and nudges that are meant to help an employee do BETTER. --NO IDIOTIC TRAINING VIDEOS!!!

Cons

--Oftentimes management handles customer grievances in such a way that those grievances are "swept under the rug"; they aren't serious enough to be handled with the level of customer service any customer would expect. That needs HUGE improvement. --I am often pushed to work much faster than my alloted time range. And this can prevent me from doing a thorough job where a thorough job needs to be done and to get my last-minute tasks done before the time I am given just before closing. --I'm not sure how much headway this idea is going to have, but there ought to be an open position bulletin board so employees can find out if a position within the store is opening up. Hearing about openings by word of mouth is unreliable. --We need more frequent employee meetings. We don't have enough of these at this store.
