Manager is insane...

Pros

Pay is above average if you are full time. Closed on Sundays. Christian company.

Cons

Full time hard to achieve. Most people are part time which means lower pay. Work off the clock is normal and required. Meetings are off the clock in many cases. Cashiers must type in prices and departments of the merchandise instead of scanning, which can lead to many mistakes. Terrible management!!!!!!!

Pros

Love my fellow team members

Cons

Company should keep their payroll raise for the next year and invest in safety equipment for unloading the truck, and a POS system that is from this century. Manager is the worst example of a leader I have ever worked with. She is more worried about being the best and getting her bonus than how she treats her employees. Her ability to squash any happiness or fulfillment from good work is detrimental to employee moral. There is no development for department heads. You have to work through all management positions to be considered for a co manager or store manager, even if qualified, or have more experience than they do. Do not take a position and think you will be able to move up! They hire from outside and keep department heads under their thumb. Worked in retail for years and their payroll allotment for resets, and setting seasonal is a joke. There is never a moment to breath and work in your own department.

Pros

Most of the customers, at least in my experience, are friendly. My work stays at work, nothing goes home with me to consume my personal time. We receive a 15% discount. The hourly wage is better than almost all of the other comparable retail jobs in the area and is probably good for singles and/or students working their way through college.

Cons

The schedule is irregular and difficult to plan around. The hourly wage is insufficient if you have a family to support. Despite claiming to be closed on Sundays to allow employees to spend time with their families and because Hobby Lobby is a Christian company, we do actually work on Sundays throughout the Christmas season and inventory time - basically November through January. When we get a lot of overtime during one part of they year, our hours get cut dramatically at another time in the year so we average 40 hours per week.
