Pros

Decent pay, Sundays off, 15% discount (includes clearance). Unfortunately, I can't think of much else.

Cons

- Immature coworkers (most of them over the age of 30). Department heads lollygag and find tiny details to whine incessantly about instead of working with their associates to develop solutions. The gossip mill is always propelled by the 30+ old ladies that worked at my location (including co-managers). - Needs work on hourly distribution Certain department heads would stay on the clock to finish duties that could be done the next day; results in limited hours for other associates and confuses payroll concerning said dept heads - Inability to stay consistent with sales. Associates are often thrown under the bus by managers simply to please the customer when circumstances cannot grant the customer's current desire. - Nonfriendly environment to work in. Gossip leads to distrust and malcontent towards management and department heads (excluding a few).

Pros

The pay is good for full time.

Cons

Benefits are not that good. You are made to wear a silly looking polo shirt, If you need an apron it must be worn over the silly looking polo shirt. Music is the same day in and day out. Yes, they close at 8pm, but we were made to stay until after midnight some nights, just to clean. I don't think it's just about cleaning. When you leave for the night, you feel no sense of accomplishment because the DM will show up the next day and say that it wasn't done right. Mismanagement. Managers have no people skills at all. No motivational skills either except the threat of punishment (late nights of cleaning, being written up, etc.)

Pros

Closed on Sundays.Store hours 9am to 8pm allow for family time.

Cons

The message that upper management / corporate office portrays is not necessarily consistent with the message that store managers are conveying. Hobby Lobby prides themselves on treating employees right and family first Christian values. At the store level it translates more as 'make a buck'. Talk to the customers if you have time, but get all your other work done. Time off for family? Well, maybe.. IF there's someone that can cover your shift. Otherwise, sorry - you'll have to miss that once in a lifetime thing with your kid.
