Pros

Holder offers many opportunities for taking on responsibilities and growing.

Cons

You will hate working here because this company makes your job your entire life. They do not ever let you use your PTO. You will work at least 80 hours a week if on the field side. I experienced racism and sexism in my time here. You will get cursed out if something is done incorrectly.

Holder is committed to providing an environment free of harassment and discrimination, and these incidents should be reported immediately, so we can investigate in a timely manner. We recognize the construction industry’s long hours and your feelings of reaching maximum work capacity. Managers and their associates are expected to keep an open line of communication about workload and using PTO. We are very sorry to hear your experience did not align with our promise.

Pros

Typical plethora of resources of a bigger company

Cons

This company does a phenomenal job at brainwashing it’s employees to believe that it’s operating procedures are industry standard. In the field your work day is a standard 10-14 hours. In my 3 years of being with the company I worked 65-80% of my weekends. If you voiced your about how you were overworked it impacted your standing/raise/bonus. Don’t expect to have a life outside of work with this company. The bonus may be higher than most in the industry but it’s not worth it in regards to what you have to sacrifice to get it. There’s a reason why this company can’t retain employees or why it can’t keep seasoned employees that they hire who don’t come up from the intern program

Thank you for your years of service with Holder, and we apologize your experience ended for the reasons you described. Long hours are unfortunately common in the construction industry, we acknowledge this challenge and empower all associates to find their work-life balance and use PTO for your personal wellness. Overworking is not standard practice, and is not a baseline that impacts standing/raise/bonus. Overworking is discouraged as it directly impacts your safety and burnout.

Pros

Holder is a great company for someone just graduating from college. Holder gives you the opportunity to learn and grow in trades you've never worked with before. Holder offers good support if you are willing to ask for help.

Cons

Long unrealistic hours set by unrealistic timelines that were agreed to by the upper management. You will work 7 days a week with this company if they want you to work 7 days a week. No work life balance whatsoever, 90% of your time will be to work. It is frowned upon if you ask for a day off or need to do something on a particular weekend where you wont be able to come in, I saw this happen a lot when hourly guys tried to take a weekend off after working weeks straight without a day off. Pay isn't that great compared to other GCs out there.

Thank you for sharing your review. Our people are our most valuable assets, and we care about your overall wellness in and out of the office. We acknowledge that work-life balance can be a challenge in the construction industry, but we trust the relationships built within our project teams gives our associates confidence to ask for help when workload gets heavy. We are sorry to hear you and other associates felt unable to ask for that support. We fully support and encourage all associates to utilize PTO throughout the year to recharge to avoid burnout and remain happy and healthy. We offer a competitive compensation package, which includes a generous annual bonus opportunity for all associates. Overall pay is regularly reviewed against industry benchmarks, and a total rewards statement is provided twice a year so each associate can discuss any questions with their manager.
