Confidence, clarity, and teammates who actually show up. That is the foundation every great sales career is built on. The fact that the routine gets easier with practice means the system works and you are working it right alongside it. Keep going, the best is still ahead.

Pros

The training is actually pretty good & very detailed. Came in with no prior experience and was taught everything I needed to know

Cons

If you are considering working here please read this review as this is an honest & detailed review from a former “Home Remodeling Expert” Home Genius is a good starting place for someone with no sales experience as they do have a really solid training that teaches you everything you need to know about construction & sales. Most of the “Sales Mentors” are very helpful with you in the beginning too, but that’s where the good kinda stops.. Once training ends and you start running appointments expect to be micromanaged like you’ve never seen before. They want you making phone calls to managers during appointments multiple times then if the day is slow expect to be driving to the office for meaningless meeting/script practicing. Your work/life balance is completely taken away at this job as they expect you to work 12 hour days, 6 days a week. Also keep in mind this is a “high pressure” sales position or better known as 1-Call close. For anyone who doesn’t know what that is, they expect you to close the deal during your first meeting with the homeowner and if you don’t, they have an entire department designated to continue reaching out to that homeowner until they move forward, if that customer decides to use home genius after the initial appointment you went on you will NOT get commission on that job. That means no following up or building a true relationship with people which is everything when it comes to sales. Anyone with any prior experience in sales knows that the 1 call close method is a scam that companies whose prices are way to high use because they know if they don’t sign the deal on the initial meeting another reputable company whose pricing is actually fair will come in and get that job… Also be aware of all these 5 star reviews on here as they asked us during training to go write positive reviews on indeed & Glassdoor to push down the “bad reviews” That’s a HUGE red flag if you ask me.. So to end the review my recommendation to anyone looking to work here would be if you can’t find anything better than home genius at the time, accept the position, go through training, run estimates for a few months then once you get the hang of it & realize this is something you want to do, go look at other companies where you can make more money and have a better work/life balance

Pros

Pay wasn't bad. Culture was casual, though perhaps a bit too much so. Personally, I'd say it crossed the line from "casual" to "frat", but that's just me. Personal preference on that one, I'd say.

Cons

The job posting said it was an office job. The interview said it was an office job. I arrived for my first day and was told to go out and start knocking doors because it's actually a canvassing job. They WILL lie to you to get you to sign on. Also they fired me because I have a disability that acted up for a couple days, so don't expect any respect for the ADA either. Their IT department is deeply incompetent. There was an app we were supposed to use, which never worked properly. Oh, and they do not provide company equipment for doing the job. You are expected to use your personal phone for company work. There were also multiple instances of computer-based issues with pay.
