Flexibility with schedules was awesome, before I went full time, and was a college student, they were able to find shifts that didn't interfere with school. Also at that time, they had an awesome pickup method if you wanted a one off shift here and there for some extra hours. Pay was decent, job duties fairly well outlined, clients were kind (most of the time). They also always did a 2 person introduction, so you weren't just going to someone's house without another caregiver or the overhead staff to meet a client for the first time. Also you get to build wonderful connections with the people you are caring for, and knowing that you are truly making a difference in their lives through companionship, care, or reprieve for their loved ones.

Cons

As a full time carer, it was slightly harder to fill a schedule, just because clients had different times that they needed you and that didn't always align with your current schedule. Also, the initial induction was difficult if you haven't had much caring experience. They did do a couple hours of training and then 1-2 shadow shifts to help combat this, but perhaps skills reviews would have been helpful. Finally, not much room for upward mobility. It is the nature of the job unless you want to go into management and no longer doing direct care.
