Pros

Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet end up working here. Good if you enjoy the feeling of oppressive depression and stress or if you are a social pariah.

Cons

The nice people get there souls sucked out of them eventually and become shells of what they used to be, or worse generic catty office workers. No work work life balance No visibility of upper management (head of and CEO level everything underneath is easy to communicate with.) Thankless both in customer and professional life Cares more about numbers then the people working to achieve them

Pros

Pool Table in the Leeds Office

Cons

Bad Management who didn't have a clue what they was doing setting unrealistic targets, Passing work to every one else to do, Work that was set for her to specifically do. So she could get away with doing nothing! When complained about her and the way she spoke to people nothing was done about it. Dont care about the little people your just some one they can toss out when not needed any more. If you work there watch for Snakes Management constantly slagging staff off or talking about other managers to staff

Pros

1. The team members across the business are generaly great people to work with 2. Share save plan

Cons

When I joined Homeserve I immediately sensed a warm working atmosphere with people leading in the right way. There were targets to meet like any organization has but now the workload has become nothing short of outrageous. I am no longer rewarded for the extra effort I give having had my bonus taken away from me permanently. However, I am expected to run assessment centres without being awarded overtime or time off in lieu. There is an overwhelming sense of victimization here with popular, timeserved and professional people not being given essential support. If you happen to be away from work due to long term sickness, the return to work is regarded as something to be looked down upon. The answer to this? Recruit and employ more robust staff. In an age of technology, the various processes aren't built into the IT systems and there is a heavy reliance on spreadsheets. Despite experience and talent, there is a trend from senior management to treat team managers and advisers as inept, unqualified and almost like this is the first job since coming out of school. Core people values have taken a back seat and Preston has definitely become a unit without any care - probably because there is no courage. It is impossible to submit good ideas to a point of contact as these will be dismissed - an inept system of review stops the implementation of some good ideas that would help both advisers and customers. Scheduling rotas has become dire with many rotas being rehashed at short notice. There is no work/life balance anymore

HomeServe Response

Hi and thanks very much for your review. There are a lot of points here, probably too many to address in this response and definitely better addressed by a conversation because that would help me to understand better some of your concerns and also allow me to respond properly to some of the points I think you are making. One thing I would challenge though is the suggestion that you can’t raise ideas and have them given proper consideration. We have lots of ways to do this, up to and including a CEO who asks People to have one-to-ones with him. Anyway, please do schedule some time with me, I think it would be really beneficial for both of us.
