Honeywell - What happened?

Pros

Some great people left - There have been so many changes recently - that many of the great people are leaving. These great people are needed to run Aerospace - whic is complex - both from a manufacturing and governmental requirements. Great products - We supply Commercial and Defense - products that make commercial products safer and defense products that make our troops safer around the world.

Cons

Benefits, Benefit, Benefits - the company used to have great benefits. My family is now on my wife's benefits because the Honeywell benefits are too costly. As an employee only I still pay over $6000 a year for employee only benefits. I also have a $1500 deductible before my insurance even pays a thing. Company is not paying for Dental this year :( Work from Home is going away. Yes we used to be a progressive company that trusted employees to get the job done - but now we are regressing back to the 1980's - where if they don't see you in a site - you must not be working. In my role - I work with employees and contract workers around the world and sometimes people in the sites. Where we work should not really not matter. I have assembled great teams - where they worked never mattered to me - as long as they got the job done.

Engineers should avoid this place

Pros

The workforce is young and a very fun group and the people still left from Intelligrated are knowledgable and friendly

Cons

Management is actively making this a worse place to work by the day. Honeywell corporate ran off the sales folks so we have so few customers anymore. Salaries are stagnant, furloughs every year can be expected despite high earnings, no work/life balance, corporate makes unrealistic projections then cuts money from employees to look more profitable, reduction in overtime pay for the same amount of work. The list goes on, Honeywell does not care about employees, they are a slave to the shareholders and are happy to work their people ragged.

Furloughs after Record Profits

Pros

The people. Most of the people here like their job and want to do it well. Sense of family at the lower levels, we look out for each other's well being.

Cons

We have to look out for each other because of the ways Honeywell is manipulating everything about working here. Furloughs coming after an extremely profitable year, hiring freezes, "unlimited" vacation (no vacation), travel restrictions, $1500 insurance charge for smoking tobacco (goes to Honeywell, btw), stock buybacks when the tax cuts happened instead of raises and bonuses, having to be re-vested EVERY YEAR to get your 401k so they can keep their cash as long as possible (or take it back if you leave). Greed. Brace for more furloughs or RIF as the economy weakens.
