Thank you for the work you do with the Houston Methodist Academic Institute and for the 5-star review! Our culture of excellence and support is one of the many reasons that our team members stay with the organization. Our benefits team provides PTO instead of sick days, so employees can have the flexibility to take time off as needed, whether that's for personal business, a vacation or wellness.

Pros

HM is a great company overall, I've heard more positive experiences from employees at other locations, met some great coworkers

Cons

The culture at Sugar Land is toxic, it won't take long to figure out who's friends with who and see how it affects their judgment and decision making. ICARE values aren't upheld, no accountability or integrity demonstrated from various leaders. Poor communication and transparency at various levels. Psychological safety is nonexistent. The benefits aren't as great as other healthcare companies I've been at. Internal application process needs to be fixed: They shouldn't notify your manager that you are interviewing for a different position unless you are being offered a job. It creates an uncomfortable situation for the employee who may be trying to escape poor leadership. There seems to be no benefit in being an internal candidate as your resume is mixed in with external. You have to meet with HR so they are aware of what jobs you applied for so they can email the hiring managers.

Pros

Great benefits and lots of side perks

Cons

Corporate greed. Customer satisfaction is more important than actually treating patients.
