Pros

Other franchises of Huntington may be okay- but the one in Ridgewood, NJ (which also owns the one in Westwood, NJ) is absolutely not worth its weight in garbage.

Cons

When hired by the Huntington Learning Center of Ridgewood, NJ (owned by Prometheus Innovations), I was promised all the hours I wanted. I was also told that, in return for that, I would have to quit my other tutoring jobs. I agreed. I was stunned when I received no hours at Huntington even though I was never given the chance to teach and certainly wasn't told about any failings of my own. Yet, I had quit my other jobs for them. So, essentially, Huntington has left me without a job for months now. On top of all of that, I sent them an e-mail over a month ago just to let them know that I would be going away for a few days, just on the off chance that they decided to contact me. They never even bothered to get back to me. After this, I feel ghosted and robbed of other opportunities. After this disaster, I'm looking into going into a field that isn't about tutoring.

Pros

Nice coworkers, teachers are good, fun to work with students, curriculem provided

Cons

Full time workers are paid too little for too much work. You get an hour for lunch, but everyone works through it. You are also expected to work 4 hours on the weekend, which is defined as Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I always ended up working longer as I also taught. Teachers are paid a disgustingly low wage- $10-12 dollars an hour for teachers with teachers licenses and Master's degrees. ACT/SAT teachers got paid $13 and up, but only had B.A.s or B.S's. They were charging upwards of $80 dollars an hour for tutoring. Most of the summer and pretty much every holiday was blacked out for vacation. They thought we should have 'summer camp' for students. Most of our students went to real camp, outside, in nature. Also expected people to come in to teach during massive snow storms. No lunch breaks for teachers.

Horrible Pay and Hours

Pros

Kids are great and so are the parents.

Cons

Old Facilities, revolving door of workers, horrible management, the pay is pennies for what they collect from parents. Drive an hour to work just to be told last minute parent canceled.
