Pros

It was wonderful to be able to help parents understand the public education system and how to get the best education for their children.

Cons

Zero Life Work Balance!!! As a CD you are expected to do ground level marketing, manage the center, and conduct both initial and follow-up sales conferences. It is too much for one person. I could have worked 60 hours a week and still not come close to doing half of what was expected of me. Corporate is awful! Ray and Eileen run the company with "fear". They bully their franchise owners, and in turn, that is taken out on the individual center management. There were many occasions where I walked into work finding my franchise owner in such a state that the inexplicable tension in the office was palatable. This is not acceptable. It was always clear to me that the bullying started at the top with Huntington corporate. But the worst, by far, are the new programs they have begun to introduce. Huntington has always built their business by saying they work on “individual needs” and “build back the basics”, but now they are just selling “Band-Aids”. By this I mean that they are going against their own philosophy of education to make more money. Saying now that we will Subject Tutor kids 7th grade and up. This was never the case before, unless the subject was clearly the problem. We always looked for underlying issues. That’s what made Huntington different. Also, our individualized SAT/ACT programs are a thing of the past. Instead of sitting with an expert and going over a breakdown of your scores to target problem areas, you can now elect to just buy 10 hours of prep. It’s one thing to want to increase your market, but when you go against your own educational philosophy to do so, that is simply greed. I left because I no longer believed in the product I was selling. And, as an educator, I could not live with myself.

Pros

Very flexible schedule. A nice work environment. The job is overall easy and it does not take a lot to do well.

Cons

The pay rate at HLC is relatively low. It can only be a second job or in-between-jobs employment due to lack of pay raises and promotion opportunities.

Pros

flexible hours, detailed program, friendly coworkers, the two hour sessions really make the time go by quickly, the facility is clean and well-organized

Cons

part time, less hours after exams. there isn't a lot more to say - it's pretty straightforward, not a lot to complain about
