Pros

The team members and managers are all great and work well together. There is a lot of cooperation and communication, and the vast majority (no company is perfect) of the members of the IT team truly care about doing an outstanding job, i.e., you don't get the impression they're just there for the paycheck.

Cons

The environment can be a bit political, but not overly so compared with other companies. I did hear a good number of complaints that the pay is less than comparable companies for comparable work. I personally didn't find that to be the case, but it may have been true in some cases.

Pros

Huntsman is an exciting environment becase things are often changing through divestment, acquisition, etc. It's also an international environment with opportunity to work with people all over the world, particularly Europe, England, China, Singapore, Australia, etc. Many of the products Huntsman makes are market leaders, and the company is in some good business sectors with impressive growth rates. Huntsman has taken tough decisions in the past about its future, and the Huntsman family seems genuinely committed to doing the best thing for the busienss, the shareholders, and yes maybe even for the employees. Huntsman is a large comopany which in theory offers opportunity to move between departments.

Cons

In some of the functions there is little or no communication from C-level and director level to managers about strategy, plans, etc. This becomes particularly apparent at times of stress, e.g. resource cutbacks, when it becomes difficult to know exactly where to focus efforts in order to get the best outcome. Promotions often given based on personal relationship rather than best person for job and career opportunities are not well advertized internally. In some functions there is a high reliance on external consultancy, which is perceived by employees to be expensive and not at all value adding. Some businesses are run in a very command-and-control style, with little involvement of staff in decision making.
