Pros

Fantastic team of talented individuals with a strong sense of integrity and work ethic. You are in charge of your own career path and no one will ever say "no" to a good idea. There is a huge amount of opportunity for anyone who is creative, hard-working, and motivated. The management teams are knowledgeable and will to invest time in employees that seem like a worthwhile investment.

Cons

Occassional lack of communication at the leadership level result in different and sometimes conflicting messages on job responsibilities and career expectations. Also, it sometimes still feels like an incubator stage, so you can't always count on services you get at a more established firm such as IT responsiveness and office management.

Pros

Huron consulting was my first job out of college. The people I personally worked with were smart and outgoing, the culture at the company was pretty social/open-door overall. If you were not on a project, you were basically free to come and go as you please, with no one keeping track of when you arrive/leave and how long you go on lunch. Benefits were very good as well: lots of time off, dental, medical, etc. They also paid for any almost any certification you wanted to get as long as it was somewhat related to the work you were doing. You are encouraged to get your CPA / CFA / CFE.

Cons

The main reason I left Huron was that there was no enough work coming in and it was very difficult to get staffed on projects. it was pretty common to see 50% of my co-workers (who were the same level as me) on the bench week-after-week. Obviously, this doesn't lead to a very strong place to grow your career. When the company began layoffs, senior management gave very little notice that this was happening, and the selection of the people laid off seemed very arbitrary. If you are interested in health-care consulting you might want to consider working here, if not, stay away.

Pros

They do reward you for constant travel each quarter with a travel bonus. Internal training courses are offered in various subjects that apply toward consulting skills.

Cons

Emerging services are not steady and if your are part of these emerging services, achieving utilization numbers may be difficult if projects don't land.
