Pros

- Coworkers are some of the best people and friends you'll ever meet. - Flexible work schedule (depending on your manager)

Cons

- No direction at all. Every few months they shift directions and completely throw out work done by talented and passionate individuals. - Executives are clueless. No one trusts them AT ALL, and the "cabin in the woods" effort is doing the opposite of what they want. - Pay, just like every other legitimate review you'll see. They gave "top performer bonuses" but then stopped giving out anything the next time raise/bonus time came around because we "already got something." - Nepotism and favoritism are rampant. Phenomenal employees will get overlooked because someone else is speaking ill about them even if it isn't true. - Outsourcing is happening. It feels like the company is trying to push out US employees to replace them for employees in India and Poland. Having them say otherwise is disingenuous. I could keep going, but I think the point is very clear when you read the other reviews: this is not a place to grow your career and settle down.

Disappointing Changes

Pros

- Pay can be good - my experience does not seem to match others' - Good benefits - many perks offered but a great deal are of no interest to me. (on the CONS side, the switch to a High Deductible Health Plan was a huge negative) - Great PTO after a bit of seniority. Flexible hours if on the right team.

Cons

- Absolutely no career advancement, despite the lip-service and hype. - Changes to R&D department since "new leadership" took over has many confused. Morale is very low on average. With all of the recent changes for the worse, it is nothing short of a miracle that this company still makes any "best of" list. It just is not deserving. Not any more. The propaganda generation shining up the outside view is rivaled only by the inside spin machine. HR is excellent at rallying the troops, particularly the newer ones, to vote in popularity polls. After all, we have slides and a market-priced diner! Hyland was once an innovator working hard to become a shiny star by working around obstacles and going above and beyond expectations. Leadership now is talking to outside consultants and trying to make itself like any other large company. It is now more about being like every one else. How is that going to work long term? We have meeting after meeting with ex-marketing and sales people explaining the visions which, when distilled, seem to be of little substance.

Avoid At All Costs

Pros

The release schedule constantly shifts but is usually a few months out, allowing for a decent work/life balance. The company is essentially fully remote, which most people enjoy.

Cons

After two rounds of layoffs, company culture is virtually nonexistent. Team members are treated more or less as a cog in a machine that can be replaced anytime. Expectations are typically unrealistic and not really what customers want, which reflects poorly on the teams who worked hard to make things happen instead of heads of product taking the fall. All those with the most knowledge have been cut and replaced by contractors or new members in India with a lack of documentation and are expected to "fix the problem for good", even if they don't know where to start. Overall, this will result in a slowdown of research and development and a loss of customers. This company is headed towards bankruptcy, or they'll probably use whatever money they have left to acquire companies and treat them as assets before they close shop.
