Pros

Free candy dispensers in HR. Great people at the lower levels. Various onsite perks. Located in a pleasant area.

Cons

Conformity is the key to success. They ask for your honesty but don’t want to hear it. Anything other than praise and sunshine is taken as an unhappy non-team player attitude. I’ve seen good, hard working employees leave or be cast out because they didn’t play “the game”, while slacker do-nothings kick back and snooze because they’ve managed to frost their nose with the proper shade of brown. Sure, ‘honesty and integrity’ are painted on the wall, but the definitions have been lost. Try: favoritism, nepotism, hypocrisy, conformity and vindictiveness. They’re great to say one thing, then do the opposite. Many people advance within the companyt because of who they know or are related to. As the company grows, their poor treatment of employees has come back on them in various forms, such as a failing reputation, some of which are displayed in these reviews. If you are a career-minded person looking for advancement based on performance, rather than who you know or have managed to kiss up to, look elsewhere. Once the recession lifts, I expect there will be a line at the Exit.

Pros

If you are from a top product company or a top performer in a service/consulting company and after joining here if you are feeling your life is set and job search ends here then welcome! Your job search actually starts from here. Comparing Hyland to any top Bangalore based product company is done only by the legacy lexmark fools who cannot get placed anywhere outside Hyland. Hyland is continuously being projected as a good product company and at times compared with top level product companies in India LOL! Thanks to their legacy mindset good for nothing management team in India who would make fake promotion about this company in Linkedin and google review. If work life balance means no work and only free time where you can do part time course/job or side business/music class then Welcome! You are at right place. If you are a person who wants to work in legacy technology/tools and doesn't want to learn Industry best practices then welcome! Hyland is here for you. If you are a person who is good at bootlicking and lobbying and politics with zero technical knowledge then you are a true Hyland material. If a box of free chocolate, electric cooker, T shirt, dry fruit excite you over a fast growing career/ working with smart colleagues/ challenging assignments/job mobility then please join here.

Cons

Kolkata office is like a family business run by people who joined as part of perceptive acquisition from Lexmark. All the senior level promotion opportunities that you would see here are opened only for their Lexmark brothers and sisters. Even if you are 100 times better than them in terms of skill, you would not get selected. I know one person who was a Dev4 and aspired to be SA4 was humiliated in interview just because he applied for the role being a newcomer(read outsider non-lexmark) . They rather promote people who are their family friend and travel to digha, tajpur together. All the positions are opened during those family trips and finalized. You being outsider may get fooled by wasting time to apply for those roles. Every point you put forward to HR or management, you would be told Hyland has a great work life balance so don't expect anything else. Which basically means there is no work and only free time like West Bengal Gov job. As a skilled performer this is not something you wanted when you joined. Unfortunately it doesn't go inside the pea sized brain of those legacy people. This company has a history of layoff every year and zero accountability from top leadership. In 2023 they laid of 20% people. Some of the laid off employees are extremely skillful and 100 times better performer than the legacy people. The CEO sent a big mail mentioning he is taking this responsibility. However by taking responsibility he neither stepped down, nor took any salary cut. The most useless community of this company is Agile Coaches and Product Owners in India. The skillset you would need to perform those role is english and microsoft office. In 2023 layoff they offered all laid off Agile Coaches(lexmark brothers mainly) role of PO. So you can understand the value of these roles. They are interchangeable and can be done by anyone at Hyland. And thing is none of them are capable of finding any job outside Hyland. Company is full of unethical and substandard people who misuse system to send fake appreciation badges to each other to gather reward point and redeem in exchange of gifts. Because of these people US HR has set a limit on these benefits. India HR and legacy senior manager is well aware of this and promotes this culture. Problem is if you speak against this then you are questioning their malpractices that they hide from US people. They will mark you and your name would be first in next years layoff. In last layoff they mentioned they are removing management layer. Technically sound manager got laid off but senior manager with zero technical knowledge was protected. All cheers to lexmark brotherhood/sisterhood. By working in this company you would realize how fake is this "Great Place To Work" certification. A company that is laying off every year and working in age old technology is getting this certificate every year just by sending chocolate to your home. Leadership has no vision. Every month you would see their organization being restructured, roles changing. All anonymous feedback are not anonymous. If you write something against legacy managers or HR then sweet! Your name is listed in next layoff. Spineless Hyland CEO is driven by their investor Thoma Bravo. In 2024 their agreement would get over and very likely Hyland would be sold to another company and expect turbulence. So if you want to get a new offer letter being at Hyland then wait till mid of 2024.But!!! It's revenue is only 1B and debt is 3B and interest from debt itself is 700 M a year and debt to ebidta ratio is 8 so it's unlikely anyone will buy this junk. Kolkata recruitment team is highly manipulative. They recruit through icims application. Problem of this application is it is configured in such a way that if external/internal candidate applies for a job it won't be visible to manager until HR moves the application to hiring manager. As a result many bright candidates apply for a job but the recruiters for own vested interest just hide those applications from hiring manager and pushes only third graded candidates who are typically someone's wife/brother/sister/son in law/daughter in law from their lexmark family. Hiring managers never come to know about this and due to timeline pressure to fill the position they have to accept these sort of rotten candidates. The bright applicants doesn't get any clue what is wrong with their application. Previously people used to send resumes of their friend/ ex colleagues directly to hiring managers. However, this made the kolkata HRs insecure. The group of HRs with zero technical knowledge to shortlist CV cooked up their story and made the US recruitment team believe this is causing operational issues and took the entire resume shortlisting control on them. This is where they highly manipulate profiles. If you refer an excellent candidate they would just tell you that hiring manager is not interested in the profile. However, reality is the CV never went to hiring manager as they are prepping one of their family members for the position and they want to make sure no good candidate ever applies for the position. Next, a highly manipulative department is their payroll. You will see random pay cut in your full and final settlement. This is how they save money and send chocolate to people. Unfortunately people in US has no idea of these malpractices how the HR department is spoiling this company due to zero governance.

Pros

Hyland gives you all types of surity that your job would be safe by throwing lavish parties, gift vouchers and you would be very happy! Huge salaries given by Hyland .

Cons

Both the Pros above are just illusion and short lasting. This company took away our jobs just like that and leaving most of us on roads unemployed.
