Pros

To be honest, I loved working at Hyland. My role was fun and exciting, the people are great and I traveled all over the United States.

Cons

After a year or so you realize the dark side of Hyland. A TC and PM are equals yet PMs make a significant amount more than a TC. Your utilization could be 105% yet you'll never get a bonus because Hyland bases the bonus program off of how well the entire vertical does. Fun Fact: Hyland hasn't given out a utilization bonus in nearly 3 years. TC's make 20k less than industry standard. Trust me, no free amount of M&M's make up for that. Overachievers will get a "Thank you" from upper management and that's it. Don't expect a greater merit raise or discretionary bonus. Hyland has fewer parties and happy hours. The onsite restaurant has gone down in quality. The perks are not what they use to be. Don't let the reviews fool you. There are plenty of great companies and tech opportunities in Cleveland.

Pros

Met one of my best friends here and decent rapport with non management employees in southern satellite office. CEO seemed like a decent fellow personally but solely a mouthpiece of the board.

Cons

Worst manager known to man who does not stand-by his employees, known to clothesline employees when they need help pushing a customer issue forward. Management would take off and leave grunt employees to carry the load despite their being critical issues at hand. Huge disconnect between satellite office and corporate office in Westlake. Bunch of rah rah rah coming from up north. Manager did not know product so he would rule with iron fist on insignificant employee actions such as talkativeness, breaks, punctuality etc. Was treated with more autonomy in grade school. Preferential treatment to employees of opposite gender, likely sexual harassment or other inappropriate activity going on behind the scenes. Pay is a joke. Many more to list, I was on brink of suicide working here. Praise be to God I got out and work for a superior company in every aspect.

Pros

Depending on the manager/team lead and your department, there is some flexibility and work life balance. Some positions are compensated well (particularly sales, certain senior roles, team leads, and management). At times, relaxed environment and fun activities.

Cons

Recent cost cutting strategy is a large pay cut for many hourly employees who have had their overtime eliminated from a previous policy of 45 hours. Employees are expected to complete the same work in less time. Few teams have increased pay to compensate the difference. The medical plan is a very high deductible, single coverage costing $2600 plus the premium. There is a lot of bureaucratic red tape and middle management, which has stifled innovative process changes and product improvement.
