Pros

Fun working environment. Good benefits. Many great employees at all levels. They appreciate apathetic employees willing to stay in their hired position.

Cons

Nepotism is rampant. Poor compensation. Like to spend money just not on employee salary. Location (west of Cleveland) is not great.

Pros

As previously mentioned, the on-site perks are wonderful. The team-building activities are a major plus as well. One of the best places to work in the Greater Cleveland Area.

Cons

It is high school, a soap opera, and mafia all-in-one. You're either with the "in" crowd, or you're meat. Some "managers" can't handle their own egos or emotions, and will punish differing opinions that they deem to be not in line with "the team/family" (read: "Different than what they want to hear.") Or better yet, those whom have employees with superior technical and/or math abilities who feel threatened by a subordinate who presents a proven solution which they lack the ability/education comprehend. (It works, but I don't "get it," so it must be bad!) After a failed IPO, they sold out to a venture company for a quick buck; but are now no longer in control of their own future. IE: if their return isn't high enough, they could be flipped and dismantled by a big corporation. They are right in saying that healthcare is the future... Unfortunately, Panasonic, Sony, GE, and a multitude of large multi-national companies agree. However, they outgun Hyland on software design, and actually have their own hardware developments; Hyland has a diner. As previously mentioned, if you're one of the "old guard" managers, you can do what you like with impunity. Seniority is what counts, and below fifteen years of emplyment, being LIKED by seniority is what counts.

Pros

Truly a product you can stand behind. Truly a management team and CEO that cares and is trying like heck to do the right and take care of employees and customers and partners. Solid moral fabric running from the top down, which has some and will have some continued intangible benefits for the success of the company.

Cons

The company may be more internally-focused and inward-looking than you might hope, but most organizations greatest strengths wind up being their greatest weaknesses (as they rely upon those strengths as solutions for most problems). So nobody's perfect and the long-running success of the company and its loyal employees means a lot more management built from the inside, so with that you're going to naturally incur some challenges and Hyland does struggle a bit there.
