Pros

- The people. My coworkers make every day better. - Work/life balance is valued. You aren't looked down upon for taking a day off for your family or if you're sick.

Cons

- Pay and compensation are below the median - There is no clear or consistent criteria for promotions or advancing your career - Benefits and culture have been slowly declining. - Changes in senior management have left the company without a clear vision for everyone to follow - Opportunities for outside training, attending conferences, etc ... is reduced - Limited to no communication vertically through the layers of leadership

Pros

The environment is generally relaxed, dress is casual, schedules in many departments are at least somewhat flexible. A good place to start a career to build experience immediately after college, but not a place for someone with a developed resume.

Cons

The pay is generally below average as many other people have stated on here. The actual health benefits and retirement plan are very average, or maybe a little below average. ***Beware: The recruiters are skillful at selling applicants on the "culture & fringe benefits" in order to keep people interested and to avoid having to negotiate salary.*** Also, Hyland like a lot of companies, presents itself in a very positive, almost narcissistic light to the outside world. However, take the hype with a grain of salt. Hyland isn't even close to being in the ranks of Google, Microsoft, Oracle, Cisco, or Apple. It may seem like they are cutting edge at first glance. Dig a little deeper, and you will find a lot of people who have no real professional experience aside from having sat in a desk at Hyland for a number of years. Often times, these same talentless people get promoted just because they put enough time in. They may know internal Hyland procedures well, but their knowledge of the outside business world, how to actually communicate in a professional manner, how to develop process improvements, or evolve past where they are just isn't present. The talent pool here, despite what is said, is not even close to top tier. Several of their VP's never even graduated college. It's not the worst place to work, but at best, it's very mediocre, uninspired, and full of many people just satisfied to collect a paycheck and not really embrace innovation.
