Pros

I felt a level of professionalism from some members of the office and a subtle allowance to develop oneself. There are weekly Lunch and Learns, office happy hours by consultants and professional developments.

Cons

However, there was always a pressure to complete the work in record time with a very short deadline. There is a tremendous amount of demand to complete the work in a short time frame and to know the full expectations of the client even when one never part of the discussion. Management may be aware of extra work involved, but does little to improve or hire when needed.

Pros

A lack of general political infighting allows most staff to function somewhat independently; this results more from a lack of management knowing what is happening throughout the firm that the intentional creation of an environment for growth and advancement.

Cons

A total lack of communication at all levels withint the company, even at highest levels of management, would suggest that their tradition of responding reactively rather than strategically to a changing market for services has ceased to work any longer. Having ridden a wave of major corporate relationships for most of their history, there is a real lack of leadership in charting a new course that responds to a vastly different market, and as others have stated, their slash and burn approach to staffing levels leaves them with an inflexible structure of inexperienced junior staff and dead wood at the top. If you're looking to build a career in the profession, there is likely no future for you here, and no benefit to the experience gained for future employment opportunities.

Pros

You really get some great exposure and time on well recongnized brands. The firm has big accounts and it's a great learning experience if you're new to the industry.

Cons

push pull of the economy...when times are tough they fire everyone. After Sept 11 and in the winter of 2008 the firm has gone down to a skeleton staff for months, and in some cases closed the office. It's unmotivating if you are able to work thru it all.
