One IA

Pros

I started at IA NY on the Retail team for 2 years before moving to the Seattle office. My time here in the Seattle office was brief but I have to say that it felt like a long time, in the best possible way. No matter which office I was part of, or working with, each and every one of you have openly engaged in welcoming me with open arms. I was blessed with the experience to work with top mentors and leaders of our industry from Retail to Workplace who have taken a once abstract concept of “One IA” and made it evidently apparent that it’s not just words, but a true alma mater of the company (Imagine if we had an Alma Mater song: “One IA, yay, yay…♪♬♪ ”). Being able to work with 3-4 offices in under 3 years is what made the vision real for me and I applaud the number of intra-office collaborations. Without that level of exposure, my experience on the Architectural service side could never have been as rich as it was. Therefore, thank you. Thank you so much for all the lessons learned, for all the times I’ve asked a question out-loud to receive a response from Management instantly despite how busy they were, and for all the after-work events that ultimately brought us all together and made IA feel like a second home.

Cons

I don't have much negative things to report. My experience at IA was blissful and I would highly recommend others working with them.

Pros

Flexible hours and work arrangements as needed; big name clients that value and appreciate design; horsepower of a global practice with a more intimate office culture; investment in technology tools and firmwide resources; sharp co-CEO leaders continuing the founder's mission but challenging the firm in new ways; Supportive of inter-office transfers if employees need to move for personal reasons

Cons

Workload can be rigorous and demanding, but also challenging and rewarding

Pros

-Flexible hours, flex Fridays year around -can work from home when needed -dogs often in office -great, friendly culture -many firm wide resources -good projects -really flexible office transfers

Cons

-High turn over -management often promotes each other and doesn't recognize more junior staff -majority of the office are consultants -very rarely do they give firm title or job promotions -often they give you responsibilities above your title and pay range (IE: job captain is a PM on multiple projects... but still paid as a job captain) -associates don't do anything, all office culture done by non-firm titled employees -Staffing is a joke -good projects don't necessarily go to the better designers
