Pros

I cannot think of a pro because this company treated my entire team as if we were replaceable.

Cons

3 days of unpaid bereavement leave, mandatory overtime roughly 10 hours a week for months back to back, poor community and team building, etc

Thank you for sharing your perspective! It's important to discuss and set reasonable expectations with the team early on - when should people expect to be online, what are the core hours of work and what's the expectation of work in the short and long-term. Most contracts have a set number of hours that can be worked. If employees feel those boundaries are not respected, we encourage you to discuss with your manager. If this approach does not work, please reach out to your HR business partner to further discuss your concerns. It can be hard to find your place within a large organization made up of 9,000 employees across 75+ global offices. We encourage employees to participate in opportunities to create meaningful connections and find belonging, like our Yammer groups, Employee Community Networks and Mentor Connect program, and tap into Communities of Practice to expand learning and networking opportunities. - KZ

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and recommendations. We encourage ICFers to speak up, get involved, and offer many ways to share feedback, such as partnering with our HR team, participating in confidential surveys, or contacting the Ethics Hotline anonymously. Diversity and inclusion are a continuous, ongoing journey for us, and can take time in a large organization. While we are proud to have received awards recognizing our efforts in diversity and inclusion, we are constantly reevaluating our team structures, taking steps to close gaps, and identify data-driven solutions to invest in hiring people with dimensions of difference. We have also established Mentor Connect to develop two-way professional relationships to build connections and encourage professional development. We encourage you to join programs like this and our Employee Community Networks to foster inclusion, advance skillsets, and inspire career growth among all employees. - KZ

Pros

ICF is very missions driven - all of my projects are about doing something to improve the world we live in.

Cons

If you want to develop a new skill, you’re on your own. They only want you to work on projects that have awarded contracts. You will get as much work as you can handle unless you say no and advocate for yourself, so it is easy to get overwhelmed. There were not any technical subject matter experts for me to learn from.

Thank you for sharing your review and that you connect with ICF's purpose to build a more prosperous and resilient world for all. There are a lot of ways to develop new skills at ICF from self-paced and instructor-led trainings to ideas on how to learn on the job in the Experiential Learning Guide. You should feel enabled to come forward to your manager to discuss the skills you'd like to build as well as to address your work life balance needs. Your manager should help you balance and prioritize certain projects over others to avoid feeling overwhelmed. If you feel this does not resolve your issue, please reach out to your HR business partner to further discuss this. --- LL
