Pros

Some really great people work here.

Cons

Management is vacuous and almost entirely absent except when they want to justify their continued existence or to shift blame. Your meetings with and responses to emails from your leadership will fall into the following categories: • Questions that demonstrate that not only do they not know what they are talking about, but that they haven’t even tried to inform themselves about what they are demanding answers for or criticizing. • Blame shifting because they have not done something they were supposed to do. • Treating everything that is their responsibility as a hot potato to be gotten away from them as quickly as possible. You will not be given the resources you need to accomplish anything. Or you will have them for a very brief time before they are re-allocated. Most of the ongoing projects with the company have been ongoing for years and they just get hung around people's necks like an albatross until you’re either lucky enough to have it given to someone else or you’ll be terminated, and then it will be given to someone else. Never is there any level of accountability for the Program Managers up through SVP’s. There is a serious ongoing debate about what value the majority of the IT leadership provides. There are multiple people in my leadership chain, and no one has any idea what they do. I know it is cliché to say similar things about managers, but this is not hyperbole. We don’t know what our Director, AVP, or SVP does besides attend a once-a-month meeting where they ask questions that blame workers, and demonstrate how little value they add. They do not help remove roadblocks, if anything they create them. They do not provide useful information or give any guidance as to where it could be obtained. They do not utilize their leverage to get commitments from needed resources. Very simply, there is no accountability for anyone past a certain level and they are the near total of the reason the company cannot mature as an organization. Despite non-trivial profits, you will not see a raise that even approaches a cost of living amount. Further, if you are a remote or hybrid employee you will have NO career path, and they do not try to hide that beyond anything but the most transparent of platitudes. Expect your job to be farmed out to an off shore contractor. The first notice you will have is when they are letting you go.

Pros

The team members are wonderful and supportive. Working with others in the organization is easy. The company is a smaller organization so it is easy to get help with problems or collaborate with other divisions to problem solve. Benefits are decent but 401k match could be improved. Bonus structure is fair and transparent. HQ leadership seems to care about the employee's as they do many kind things for the staff - a one year surprise package, holiday packages, etc. They seem to value their staff and try to show appreciation.

Cons

Leadership at the local branch level needs help. If you seek help or complain retaliation is abundant. If you are honest in how you feel about leadership it is held against you. There is favoritism in promotions and there are folks in leadership roles that are not qualified for that role. You are told you may NOT take any time off in the month of December due to the 'busy season.' HR claims to want to help but does absolutely nothing with information provided to them. Essentially, the company tells you to be transparent but when you are you pay the ultimate price. Overall, it is a very hostile and unpredictable work environment.
