      Smart people, decent products, but upper management changes direction and seems distracted, and has wasted money

      Pros

      A smart bunch of people to work with, good ideas. Decent office environments with opportunity for advancement. Good technology and some groundbreaking work

      Cons

      Still has divisions between product groups, internal conflict. Some old fashioned ideas at the top. Tries to be too many things to too many industries, which waters down product direction. Their venture into translational medicine was a bit of a farce. Has bought companies without a decent understanding of their markets and technologies, which has cost them

      Thanks for the feedback; we've made a number of significant changes to our delivery organisation during 2015 which are aligned to improving the employment experience as well as delivering customer benefit. The HR team are very much focused on retaining all the things that make IDBS a great place to work but also looking for ways to strengthen the whole employment relationship.

      Pros

      IDBS was a good place to work, people work as a team, people help each other. And that was before 2015. Things are changing in a good way in some of the department but not all departments.

      Cons

      Since 2015, management has been changing quite a bit and all senior management seem to get into some sort of "political game" and fight for power, resources and budgets. The people who actually do the work became the victims. No personal career path, no direction from either direct management or senior management. No appreciation for good work and people get paid the same amount regardless of performance.

      Pros

      There are some good people, there is some innovation, despite management's determination to destroy what's good about it. Used to be great.

      Cons

      No career advancement, no flexibility in working arrangements, no pay rises, terrible office conditions, no parking, a stuck-in-the-mud attitude to progress, and secretive management.

      Thanks for taking the time to write a review although I must admit I'm surprised at some of the comments. Many individuals have flexible working arrangements with mixes of early starts or late starts or some home working so to say there is no flexibility in working arrangements is more likely to be an individual situation that may be linked to the role that you did. Additionally our office conditions are pretty good and we provide free fruit that is delivered regularly to the office as well as access to vending machines that dispense complimentary snacks and soft drinks. Yes, the car park is busy but it is not true to say there is no car parking. As you say you've been at IDBS for less than a year I'm not sure what expectations you had around pay rises and career advancement but I would hope that you had addressed any questions to your manager about these topics. Glassdoor is a great site to give people an insight into different organisations and their culture, but overly critical reviews and indeed untruthful reviews will hamper our ability to hire talent into the business.
