Pros

You can join IEEE and plan for retirement. Only three rules to survive: 1. Say what majority says 2. Play politics or be a puppet of someone who can 3. Always remember rule 1 and rule 2.

Cons

People made it to top management in IT based on politics and favoritism. This makes them head strong and less adaptive to any change for good.

Pros

None--maybe the cafeteria food, that's about it.

Cons

Every department is being downsized. People who are making too much money, which is typically people in their 50s, are being targeted to be let go as more and more of the work is being outsourced. Current employees are training outsource vendors to do their jobs, and then they are let go en masse, and replaced several months later by younger employees with lower salaries and new job titles. The current "leadership team" are a bunch of lemmings following a CEO with dollar signs in his eyes, and NO respect for the people who work there. There is no loyalty, just a culture of fear. As outsourcing becomes more pervasive through out this company, no one is safe. And if you are newly on board, you are making at least 20-30K less than the person you replaced. Wake up. Move on and find a place that appreciates your work, and isn't so willing to give your work, and your value, away to India.

Pros

Good people, trying to do good work. Dedication to employee training and trying to have everyone feel.like they are all on a Team.

Cons

The constant penny pinching makes moving forward difficult... Very rigid hierarchy, antiquated notions in some depts. and hard for women to succeed. Ultimately, the nonprofit structure that also has shades of govt and academia makes real sustained improvement nearly impossible. Not great for the long haul.
