Pros

Employees and senior leadership were committed to retaining the unique culture. Each interview candidate was screened for culture fit to ensure both the individual and company were a good fit. Lots of opportunity to take on more responsibility, grow and learn. Open and honest feedback encouraged and overall a really fun and talented team of people.

Cons

IGN was acquired in January 2013 and talent was lost but more accountability has been put on business results. Not sure how IGN culture will change with new management.

Lots of ups and downs, but felt like family.

Pros

People really care about each other. They encourage innovation and out of the box thinking. Cool industry. Fun place to work. I learned and grew a lot in my time there and made a lot of friends.

Cons

Lots of turnover. Burnout is a problem. Not enough focus from leadership, too many initiatives. There tended to be boom and bust cycles with hiring and layoffs, which impacts morale.

Pros

Open culture that is generally pretty collaborative Autonomy to get things done Lots of cool personalities at the office tremendous talent on the editorial and video teams and they are passionate about games. I have to love this having worked at a technology company before.

Cons

Core executive team is smart and dedicated but there are some people that if compared to an outside Director of VP wouldn't even be close. Make VP a true VP ... People are leaving in droves which is a bummer and hard on morale. While the office in SF is in the best part of the city to work in, has games and the people are great, it generally feels like there isn't much thought put into the look and feel and layout/design.. Get experts in to design the place.
