Pros

A couple of helpful, knowledgable folks. Beer, t-shirts, mugs.

Cons

Folks who have the right experience don't get promoted. There are folks who have a ton of experience but don't get to take up major managerial roles. Some manangers just try to pick up skills on the job or try learning from their subordinates. Ego-driven managers. Low-ball pay structure. No bonuses. Employee-performance reviews are politically motivated. Lack of transparency in decision-making.

Not so receptive on employee feedback.

Pros

There are some stars within the company that make the experience working here just barely tolerable. I was fortunately blessed with a very knowledgeable manager who cared and told it like it was with no frills.

Cons

IGN is restructuring right now and trying to rebuild its image as a premier technology company. During my tenure at IGN, managers were clueless or indifferent toward employee concerns about the work given, product direction, work environment, and below-market, low ball pay structure. CEO reiterates over and over again that "people work at IGN because they are passionate about video games and not the salary" to justify lowball salaries. Seems like all the product managers cared about was completing a project on time and making themselves look good at the expense of employee morale. Also, you we're looked down upon and portrayed as a slacker if you did not spend extra hours after work beyond the 9-5. Management is more reactive than proactive when it comes to employee morale and satisfaction. In addition, hours spent after hours often did go unnoticed and was more of an expectation than a contribution. In fairness, the experience wasn't awful, but it wasn't great either.

Good company, with some fake reviews

Pros

The company have lots of failings, but we were never bribed to give a fake review. Funny how there's a fake review from a not very bright person, complaining about the TLOU2 review, coincidently enough posted exactly in the release day of the game, when none of the older reviews mention bribed reviews. That person is spreading false stuff, and never worked here in the first place. Truly sad for him

Cons

Pay needs to be better. Managers need to be more components and more selective
