      Nursing matters here

      Pros

      Nursing shared governance is not just an idea here. Our system CNO makes sure all voices are heard and has changed this for the better. I wish more bedside nurses would come to the meetings.

      Cons

      Can’t think of any - lots of leadership changes in trauma and in our leaders - but not all of that is bad. The trauma director would yell at people and act like she owned the place. The mood at my facility has a chance now.

      Pros

      Very generous PTO. You can take as much PTO as needed at anytime. Gives PTO upon hire it is front loaded

      Cons

      Salary is a little low, so do no expect to get paid a lot.

      Care more about numbers than quality care

      Pros

      PAs and NPs were quick to respond during night shift When fully staffed the unit ran efficiently but this was seldom

      Cons

      Don’t care about nurse patient ratios More about pushing patients in and pushing patients out Don’t care about quality nursing care, always working short staffed My unit was forced to take patients it should not be taking and was told “you are going to take this patient” Managers don’t stick up for their staff, letting people who never come work or see the floor call the shots. Hired on in one unit but would float staff often with no change in pay for all the floating they do
