Early days but exciting times

Its been a few months since I joined IRIS in May this year and I never have a dull day, joining through covid means I haven't met all the team yet face to face but I already feel like one of the family. The road ahead is so exciting, moving the digital agenda within other businesses is often difficult but IRIS is so focused on improving, and truly becoming a digital business makes things even more positive. I know all businesses have there growing pains and I have been in a number of old slow moving businesses but it seems that everyone is working together to do better at IRIS. The pace is fast almost start up speed which most businesses are trying to emulate which could unnerve some people but I like that speed and pace.

Great place to work, with executive team that cares about its people. IRIS is continuing to develop an already great benefits package for all staff. The company is especially good at recognising and rewarding top talent and those individuals who go the extra mile. There’s also been a lot of new initiatives in engaging with staff and taking well-being seriously whilst everyone is working from home, including promoting charity work and helping local communities.

Cons

Like all companies, working from home has disrupted the social events for staff but IRIS is tackling this with more virtual events.

Working at IRIS feels like I’m working in the premier league. This company has cutting edge products that work brilliantly (mostly), a laser focus on making employees and customers happy, great managers and a competent and ambitious leadership team. IRIS is one of the UKs best kept secrets - I would guess that most people are touched by IRIS products everyday. On top of that, IRIS has grown every year for the last 20 years and is highly profitable - making it a secure environment to work in and one where innovation and being the best are valued qualities in employees. Unsurprisingly, the pace of work here is quite fast and everyone is expected to give their best everyday. This is not a place to plod about in or hide under the parapet in - IRIS is too ambitious for that. It’s also a place where you need to prioritise well in order to get the right things done on time. In summary a highly successful, well managed company with great results and a well thought out strategic plan which focuses on making customers and employees happy en route to achieving its ambitious growth plans.

Cons

IRIS is highly acquisitive and is doing a really good job of bringing companies into the family - however the energy required for this is over and above energy required for business as usual. Some of the offices are looking a bit tired and could do with a renovation. I know IRIS is doing something about this.
