Pros

It used to be great but has lost its way unfortunately. Still lots of opportunities to learn, and they hire great people to work with. They're also pretty flexible around working patterns, and the workers on the teams create a good culture. You can take on work to challenge yourself (but that can also turn into a con).

Cons

They don't seem to value retention or see much value in keeping existing employees. You can be asked to do the work of a grade you do not have for a long time, and due to inflexibility around reviews they often fall behind market average pay. No negotiation on salary either, and because of all of this their retention rate is not good so knowledge and skill leaves the company.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re delighted to hear you love working with your colleagues, who live our IMPACT values every day, and recognise the extensive range of opportunities to learn and challenge yourself. We know our employees are at the heart of what we do and that their #Passion and #MakingitHappen mindset is what makes IRIS a success. We’re proud to have been Great Place to Work-Certified™ for 3 years running, based on our employees’ anonymous feedback. We’re also delighted to have a significantly lower attrition rate in our Engineering function than the national average. As part of being a Great Place to Work, we invest heavily in our employees to reward them for their hard work but also to inspire them to be the best they can be. We operate an IRIS-wide annual salary review each autumn with uses external benchmarking data and evidence-led processes to ensure fair and equitable pay that is in line with market rates. We’re also delighted to offer all permanent employees an annual bonus entitlement. We’re also delighted to operate a variety of recognition schemes such as our weekly Thank You Thursdays to encourage teams to recognise each other, our CEO shout outs to our #IRISHeros each week, our IMPACT Awards and Top Talent Awards, which show everyone how much they mean to us. We also provide a varied UK benefits package that employees can tailor each year to suit their changing needs and a wealth of developmental opportunities such as Apprenticeships, Masterships and free learning courses. We’re always looking for ways we can be the best we can be, and we would welcome any further suggestions. Please speak to your HR representative or leave a comment in our next Peakon survey. Kind regards, the HR team

Pros

- People are really friendly and the company is very inclusive (a lot more female developers and QA than other companies for example) - Easy to progress - Good opportunities to grow and learn - Can have a modern tech stack in some products - Great work/life balance - Remote work and very flexible

Cons

- Very heavy on the hierarchy, sometimes it feels like there are too many managers - Product indecision and lack of direction at times - Promotions take a long time to take effect, especially if you miss the period

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We’re delighted that you recognise the fantastic people at IRIS who are celebrated for bringing their true selves to work. We’re truly proud to create an inclusive working environment, our Belonging Group holds monthly calls to focus on specific topics, share ideas and experiences and provide networking opportunities. We’re also particularly proud to promote and encourage more women into tech, with 46.5% of the IRIS population being women, and support their development. We are constantly reviewing our processes between Engineering and Product. From our Great Place to Work survey, our Engineering and Product Heads of Function have listened to our employees feedback and are looking to consolidate and review this to ensure the communication stream is as effective as possible. We have now set up an Engineering Newsletter where we will share higher level Product celebrations across the whole department which should also impact the communication aspect within the department. In the last 4 months, we were also delighted to celebrate 5 promotions and role changes across the Software Production function. We’re always looking for ways we can be the best we can be, and we would welcome any further suggestions. Please speak to your HR representative or leave a comment in our next Peakon survey. Kind regards, the HR team
