Pros

The benefits of starting at the IRS are great. You receive a decent annual salary which steadily increases. Plus, you get access to loads of other jobs solely for federal employees.

Cons

Starting as a Contact Representative is terrible. Customer service is not what the IRS is known for, and they have not learned how to properly schedule phone calls and paper inventory.

Pros

I have gained a lot of experience in the field of taxes and can use this knowledge in my everyday life. I met a lot of new people over the seasons and the training somewhat prepares you for what to expect on the floor.

Cons

Training should be more in depth for the different areas the contact representative deal with. This position only starts out as a permanent seasonal and your season could last anywhere from 6 -11 months just depends on the budget.
