Pros

- individual contributors are a good group - Semi-flexible hybrid schedule - The product itself is really amazing

Cons

Literally everything else. Where most companies, including IXL, used to have different levels of support for various sized accounts, Upper Management decided that it would be a good idea to reorg the entire department so that everyone got accounts of all sizes. Not only is this a backwards move from every other company in the world, but it was carried out with no training, structure, directions, or empathy and it was expected that everyone smile and go along with it. Morale is past rock-bottom at this point and people are beginning to leave for better positions. There are expectations that are not shared with the entire team but instead only to a few people that “play the game”. Upper Management is completely useless, knows nothing about our role or our day-to-day. It takes hours or even DAYS to get support when we ask for it. We are threatened to go into the office and our fob swipes have been pulled to see if and when we are swiping in even though Upper Management lives out of state and apparently doesn’t have the same expectations. Upper Management is a friend to your face and a bully behind your back, like we’re in high school. We all smell your insecurity and it’s bone-deep and rotten.

Pros

I met some of the best people at IXL. For the majority everyone is kind, intelligent, and outstanding,

Cons

Like any other company, profit is the goal and hierarchy is the law. There is an obvious lack of leadership and such poor structural organization, that it is hard to believe that the company can even remain functional. I worked at headquarters, in a unique position where I worked and interacted with staff across departments. You can say I was the eyes and ears of the office in San Mateo. During my time there I learned one thing for certain; employees fear the chief of operations. That person's decision making is irrational, insensitive, and narcissistic. IXL needs a better leader...

Pros

If you like change, this is the place for you.

Cons

Antiquated company where employees must work in-office. CEO & COO do not trust anyone with making decisions. The company infrastructure is failing as evident by the high turnover. No focus on DE&I. They care about the almighty dollar and not their employees.
