From innovation and creativity to copy/paste

Pros

Once a good work environment that fostered employee development, innovation, creativity, and the ideal vision of helping kids learn to read. Benefits were good.

Cons

Now a place of copy/paste(and a rather poor job of that as is). The goal of helping kids seems completely lost.

Darn! We failed in our communication to you about the opportunities for innovation in our product development strategies. We believe those who see the quality of our product will agree that creativity isn't lost!

Pros

It's not very often you get the opportunity to work with great people, for a great cause, and in a great location. Imagine Learning has combined all of those things for me. We have a product that makes a difference and that influences the employees here. We want to keep making a difference and it makes for a fantastic place to work.

Cons

There are not a lot of downsides to working here unless you're looking for a new position every year or so. We're not big enough to facilitate that type of career movement.

Pros

Yes, there is a pantry.

Cons

Imagine Learning has changed from a company that treated employees like we were their greatest asset. Now, I feel like we are an unwanted expense (especially if you work in the wrong building). The recent reduction in force ("not calling it a layoff" -Joe Swenson) has been touted as a realignment of skills in order to streamline efforts to produce high quality activities faster (and for less money). At least that is the garbage they keep feeding us. They don't care much about the quality of the activities and even less about the content. Instead, the focus has become how we can produce something quickly while keeping the operating costs to a minimum. We used to pride ourselves on how our content was so rich, so diverse and very engaging. Now the focus is do it faster, make it less engaging and recycle what we can so we can reduce costs. Very, very sad to see the direction now There used to be a great deal of trust and admiration for our executive team. It has become increasingly difficult to sift out the truth from all the lies. I stopped listening to what they say now. Their actions speak louder than their words

Your disappointment, while completely natural, doesn't account for the fact that out of 11 employees affected by an organizational realignment, three chose to stay with the company in different assignments. We made every effort to help those impacted find new positions here or take additional months to search outside the company (at full pay and unlimited paid time off for interviews). No business is perfect, and every business has to make tough decisions. We don't find pleasure in the pain you are experiencing. But we do take issue with the idea that we would ever be satisfied with creating a mediocre product. We will never stop working to improve both our product and our processes. We hope in time you will view your experiences differently--and we do indeed wish you the best.
